Who I Am
My name is Darryl Baker. My journey with mental training began over 25 years ago when I was introduced to Lanny Bassham’s book, With Winning in Mind. Although in all honesty, it took me about 15 years to truly buy into the potential of mental training.
In the past 10 years, however, not only have I come to genuinely acknowledge and understand the importance of mental discipline but also actively apply and experience its benefits firsthand. Developing my mental skills has had a tremendous impact on many areas of my life, most notably in shooting sports, business, and everyday life.
The Mental Training Truth
Most people will agree there's an advantage to being mentally prepared.
- That competitors with mental discipline tend to have the upper hand.
- That their game/profession requires significant mental discipline to succeed.
They’ll say this, but state they’re doing little to nothing to improve their own mental preparation. Why?
I believe this is because many individuals are unsure of how to apply what they’ve learned. They read books and listen to podcasts on sports psychology, but after absorbing the information, they often return to their previous routines: more practice, and chasing better equipment.
My approach is to turn an intangible concept into a tangible one. I start by teaching the fundamental concept and then tailor a detailed plan to each individual’s situation. Once you understand and implement mental discipline, it will change how you see the world.
I strive to make mental discipline training simple to understand and easier to implement.
